Breeding & Cubs
Breeding
Characters must be established in order to procreate on-site, and must have an established connection with the character they procreate with. Genetics will be used for any on-site rolled cubs and will be assigned at the time of the breeding request. These genetics will be a basic assignment of dominant and non-dominant alleles for things like pelt and eye color of the cubs, taking into account that genetic mutations due occur, and will allow for a set of genetic mutations to be rolled with the litter.
On-site requirements are as follows:
- 75 posts
- At least 3 threads with the character they mate with excluding the breeding thread
Luminaria uses a season based breeding system where Spring is the natural breeding cycle for big cats of the world of Luminaria. This means that breeding does not occur in any other season, unless you have purchased a seasonal breeding item.
Number of cubs in a litter will be rolled at random by a staff member and is based on the age group of the feline (displayed below). Appearances of the cubs may be chosen by the parents' players or left to the adopter to come up with a design. Designs of the cubs must look like they are related to the parents or extended family members.

Cubs
Cubs cannot wander safely by themselves until 6 months old and are more prone to injury or even death. They should always be accompanied by an adult or assumed to be in the company of an adult unless specified that they have left the safety of an adult.
- Newborn: NPC's of the parents. Newborns are highly dependent on their parents and spend most of their time nursing or sleeping. Their eyes open around 6 to 12 days after birth and begin walking 2 to 3 weeks after birth. Unless moved by their parents they do not go far.
- 1-3 Months:Playable for the first time by site members. For the most part cubs are still reliant on their parents. They may explore short distances from their den with supervision, and play with other cubs. Food is brought to them by their parents and they have not developed hunting skills.
- 4-6 Months: Cubs can travel longer distances, often accompanying their parents on hunts. Although they still rely on the adults to bring down the kill, they are beginning to learn the skills they will need later in life.
- 7-12 Months Preparing for life as an adult, cubs are now hands-on in hunts with their parents. Skills are not refined and thus sometimes hunts are not fulfillable for them. They can travel by themselves, though are not advised to go far by themselves.
- 12-24 Months: At this age cubs gain independance, where they should be able to hunt on their own and care for themselves. Traveling isn't a hinderance to them and they are free to make their own way in life.
